The rules of the University of Helsinki calendar of events

1. Administrators of the calendar

The University of Helsinki calendar of events is updated by University Communications.

2. Events publicised in the calendar

The University of Helsinki calendar of events publishes information on events organised by the University of Helsinki or its units (faculty, department, independent institute, or a unit under the Central Administrative Department).

Information on events organised by scientific societies or other associations is published when the theme of the event is closely linked with science or university life and when at least one of the following conditions is fulfilled:

1) A faculty, department or other unit of the University of Helsinki participates in organising the event
2) The event takes place on the premises of the University of Helsinki
3) The lecturer is from the University of Helsinki

The lecture or seminar information published in study guides is published in the calendar of events only when the events are aimed at the general public.

Event announcements of the Student Union of the University of Helsinki (HYY) as well as associations and other bodies within it should be published in the HYY calendar of events at www.helsinki.fi/hyy/kalenteri/.

The administrators of the calendar of events reserve the right to make decisions on a case-by-case basis regarding the entry of information to the calendar. Moreover, the administrators reserve the right to modify event announcements accepted for the calendar.

3. Entering information in the calendar

Events entered using the “Suggest an event” form in the calendar of events displayed on the University’s public website are published in both the public and the Flamma calendars. An event entered in this way cannot be published in only one of the calendars.

When using the “Suggest an event” form in Flamma, you can define whether to publish the event
1) only on Flamma, 2) on both Flamma and the public website, 3) solely for students or 4) solely for staff.

4. Review of information

Information entered in the calendar of events is saved in storage, from which they are transferred to the actual calendar of events 3 to 5 times a week. University Communications will review the information and transfer it to the calendar of events.

Information not complying with the criteria listed in section 2 will not be published in the calendar of events.

5. Link to the calendar of events in Yliopisto magazine

The calendar of events in Yliopisto magazine is based on the calendar of events published on the Internet.

Delivering event information to the magazine by fax or post is not necessary if the information has been entered in the web-based calendar of events.

Information on events with an entrance fee will not be published in the calendar of events in Yliopisto magazine.

Yliopisto magazine reserves the right to decide on case-by-case basis whether event announcements published in the web-based calendar of events will also be published in the print version of the magazine.

6. Amending published event information
